DELIVER DICTIONARIES
March 20, 2025 - Dave and Lourdes delivered over 100 dictionaries to the 3rd graders at JFK Elementary School. An excited noise level rose as kids opened their books and began exploring.
Unfortunately, this year the delivery of dictionaries to all Roosevelt schools was very slow, but all will be completed soon.
WOMEN IN ROTARY TEA PARTY
March 20, 2025 - Over 80 people attended the District 5495 Women in Rotary Tea Party. Kyrene Rotary Club members, Barb Feder and Jackie Wasik, are with the featured speaker, Deepa Willingham. Deepa is a past Rotarian of the Year and founder of PACE (Promise of Assurance to Children Everywhere), an organization established to combat human trafficking. She also helped found a school for girls just outside Calcutta in India. She is a remarkable woman with lots of inspiring deeds.
JUSTA CENTER

March 18,2025 - Susan Perez gave an excellent description of the "Justa Center" organization in Phoenix. The Center is a resource and day center exclusively for seniors experiencing homelessness. It is located at 10th Ave and Jefferson.
The Human Services Campus is a collaborative of 16 partner agencies with the mission of ending homelessness everyday.
TREASURES FOR TEACHERS
 March 15, 2015 -
The KRC had a good turnout at Treasures for Teachers on Saturday 3/15 and then went out to lunch.
Jackie, Dayna, Fred, Rhoda, Scott, and Susan worked on journals.
Doug, Stan, and Dave assembled some shelves, screwed together a few bookcases, moved boxes, and tested donated appliances.
HALL OF FLAME
February 26, 2025 - About a dozen members of Kyrene Rotary and their guests visited the Hall of Flame Firefighting Museum in Phoenix, near the old Legend City site. Our tour was guided by Gary Bohling, Sr. Volunteer Docent, who is a former fire chief and Rotarian Rob's brother-in-law.

The museum galleries contain a wide variety of exhibits, including fire apparatus, artwork, uniforms and equipment, firemarks, alarm room equipment, and a large fire safety exhibit which includes a two room safety house, a mini-theater, and many hands-on exhibits for children. The National Firefighting Hall of Heroes honors American firefighters who have received a national award for heroism, and we also recognize American firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

AMPLIFY VOICES
February 18, 2025 - Amanda Schneider, Executive Secretary, gave us an informative overview of the organization.
Amplify Voices was created to empower individuals who have been silenced, misunderstood, or oppressed. The organization now helps them share their stories powerfully and concisely, stand in their truth, and use their voices to break down stigmas, foster understanding, and drive meaningful change in their communities. More information can be found at https://amplifyvoices.org/about
WORKING AT TREASURES 4 TEACHERS
November 16, 2024 - Andy, Stan, and Harry happily put all their skills together to assemble stuff at Treasures for Teachers today.
A small crowd of Rotarians but up to the challenge.  Thanks guys.
3D PRINTING
January 7, 2025 - Tonight we had John LeBeau and his friend Don join us to give us some insight into the status, history, and future of 3D Printing. President-elect Yoshi is taking a closer look. John told us that 3D printing has been around for over 20 years and it continues to rapidly improve both with respect to processes and materials. While John was telling us about the various kinds of head and bed motions, he was printing out a simple model - took about 30 minutes. Very impressive.  Thank you John and Don - we hope to visit your facility in the near future.
