 An inspiration about stewardship
adapted to fit Rotary, by Steve Mariotti

My Rotary Club is composed of people like me.
I help make it what it is.
It will be a friendly club,
...if I am.
Its work projects will be filled with volunteers,
...if I volunteer to help.
My Rotary club will do great work,
...if I work.
It will make generous gifts to many causes,
...if I am a generous giver.
It will bring other people into its fellowship,
...if I invite and bring them.
It will be a club of loyalty, friendship, and fun, and a
club with a noble spirit, if I, who make it what it is, am
filled with these same things.
Therefore, with the help of other club members, I shall
dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I
want my club to be.

Disney Magic
October 9, 2017 - Rich Hamilton told us about Disney Magic. He related some history and several humorous stories about his experiences at Disneyland. The three key points that he learned from Disney were: Pay attention; Engage; and Systematize. Rich explained how these points can be used in everyone's daily life. He tested our knowledge and our ability to pay attention at the end of his presentation and distributed various prizes to the winning members.

After the presentation, Rich announced that three of his books were available for sale at $20 each.  Here, David and Dave discuss the various books with Rich.
Rich donated 100% of all the proceeds to our club.  As a result of Rich's generosity the club added $160 to our coffers. Many thanks, Rich !

Rotary and Club Foundations
Oct 2, 2017 - Club member Dave gave us a great overview of both the Rotary(TRF) and the Kyrene Rotary Club Foundations. Dave explained the categories available in the Rotary Foundation and told us that TRF directed 92% of funds to programs. The goal is to have every club member contribute $100 per year. ($40 are contributed automatically from dues). Contributing on-line is very easy but there are forms available to contribute via mail.  Our club Foundation is not completely finalized but should be operational by mid-November. Ideally members should first contribute to TRF and then to our Foundation. Thanks Dave for a great presentation.

The DNA doesn't fall from the tree - Wyatt Earp
Sept 25, 2017 - Today Wyatt Earp, grandson of the legendary Wyatt Earp told us some of the history surrounding Wyatt Earp and how he became an actor to portray some historic episodes, like the shoot-out at the OK Corral. His wife, Terry Earp, a well-known Arizona playwright wrote all his scripts. He then performed two monologues from his repertoire - a view of the events at the OK Corral from Wyatt Earp's perspective and then Doc Holiday's perspective. We all enjoyed the performance.
