April 15, 2015 - Kyrene Rotary members Bil, Andy, Doug, Tom and Harry served lunch to homeless men and women at Phoenix Rescue Mission and cleaned up the serving area after.  Thanks Bill for arranging this annual service project.  Phoenix Rescue Mission provides 3 meals a day, 7 days a week, overnight shelter and many other services to homeless people. 

April 13, 2015 - Greg DeCori, Territory Manager for Trek Bicycles, gave us an overview of his career, the history of Trek, and the Trek philosophy. Greg worked for J&B for several years before deciding he wanted to be part of the bicycle world. After several tries he landed a job with Trek and has been with them for almost 20 years. Trek is a family owned business that began in 1976 and now has 1800 employees (many of them have been with the company over 20 years). Trek is environmentally responsible and works with many municipalities to facilitate bike-friendly environments. Trek has a philosophy of innovation and has consistently led the industry in new designs and building relationships with retailers.

  April 8, 2015 - Along with contributions from 4 other clubs, Harry and Dave presented our cash contribution to the United Food Bank today. In all we gave $4,250 to fund nearly all of the United's milk vouchers for a full quarter of a year. The milk vouchers are included in 3-day food boxes available to first responders for families in crisis who run out of food. They can be redeemed at Bashas, Food City and Sam's Club food stores. United Food Bank is the center of food collection and distribution that supports more than 120 food pantries, agencies, and schools in Maricopa, Pinal, Gila, Navajo, and Apache Counties.

April 6, 2015 - Dennis Flynn, Executive Director for "Rebuilding Together - Valley of the Sun", gave us an overview of his organization. The national organization has 180 affiliates across the country and the local organization has been in Phoenix since 1991. That first year they built 26 houses in Phoenix. They work with many corporate sponsors to help keep the costs low. Every October they organize the "Rock and roll Paint-a-thon" where upwards of 3000 volunteers participate. Nine years ago they began the Senior Fall Prevention Program (Club member Rob participates in this program). This program builds and installs ramps and grab bars in homes. This is an impressive community service program that our club might work with.
