October 19, 2019 - Lisa Kilpatrick is the District Commissioner for the Desert Hooves Pony Club which is a participant in the USPC Pony Clubs. A link to the presentation is HERE
This Pony club began in 2016 with 3 members and has 27 members today. The Club not only teaches riding but also horse management, self reliance, character, leadership, communication skills, and a sense of community. The members range in age from 5 to 25 and are taught how to participate in regional and national competitions. Members have the chance to attend an annual 1 week camp. Members above 14 years are eligible to participate on a Youth Board where they learn how to be a responsible board member. Two enthusiastic young club members described what their experiences in the club meat to them. Rotary club members appreciated learning about this creative program to help young people develop.
