March 18, 2019 - Dr Daniel Nightengale, co-founder and director of Dementia Therapy Specialists  regaled us with some humor (he is a stand-up comedian) that led into a serious discussion of dementia.
Dr Dan has found that comedy is a great tool for helping people with dementia. He said that dementia is beginning to occur much earlier in today's western population and he believes that a major contributor is the increasing consumption of sugar in our diets. He also explained the difference between alzheimers and vascular dementia and how they must be treated differently.  Much discussion ensued and the members truly enjoyed his presentation.
