April 20, 2020 - Honorary Member, Nathan Kleve, the principal at Corona High School, filled us in on how the school and district is coping with the Covid-19 virus.
Nathan reminded us that at first the school was only closed for 2 weeks: then that was extended to the balance of the academic year.  First, all teachers needed to get on-line training because there are a variety of platforms to communicate with the students. Students will receive a grade that is no lower than their 3rd quarter grade and that grade can be improved. The District has distributed 2300 lap top for students who don't have a computer at home and is also providing meals to students via pick-up locations in Tempe. The school is still trying to develop a method for a graduation ceremony for seniors. As of now, the School hopes to begin the next academic year as usual, in August. A challenge will be to provide adequate hand washing stations and a protocol for how students move between classes. Nathan's presentation generated many questions from club members.  His presentation is available by clicking HERE.
